Britney Spears speaks out after highway sunroof stunt goes viral

Britney Spears has addressed her latest freeway stunt in Los Angeles that sparked concern online.
The 44-year-old pop star recently made headlines after she was photographed standing through the sunroof of a black Mercedes SUV while traveling on the busy 101 Freeway near Studio City on Wednesday.
Photos showed Spears leaning out of the moving vehicle with her arms stretched across the roof and her head arched back as traffic moved around her. Reports say she was standing through the sunroof for about two minutes before the SUV exited the freeway.
Days later, Spears has addressed the incident first-hand via an Instagram post. “Arching my back to the heavens to god trying to get back all the years I missed…,” she wrote with an image of herself standing through the vehicle’s sunroof.
She also reportedly shared a photo of a bruised young girl, as in the caption she added, “Unfortunately what people didn’t see is what my reality used to look like in the next photo. Not anymore!”
After leaving the freeway, Spears and her driver stopped at a nearby gas station, where she was seen laughing and chatting with the man, who has recently been linked to her romantically.
A source told the Daily Mail that Spears briefly stuck her head out of the sunroof to check traffic ahead after vehicles slowed.
“Britney just went through the sunroof for a quick moment. She wanted to see what the traffic was about up ahead because the cars came to a stop,” the source claimed.
The insider added that Spears grew up doing similar things as a child and simply enjoyed feeling the wind in her hair, insisting she did not realise the act could violate traffic laws.
The incident comes only months after Spears resolved a driving-related legal case.
Following her March 4 arrest, she pleaded no contest to a reduced reckless driving charge, avoiding jail time. She was sentenced to 12 months’ probation, fined $571 and ordered to complete 30 hours of DUI education classes.
As part of the agreement, Spears is prohibited from driving with intoxicants in her system and must comply with chemical testing if requested by law enforcement.
