Jonathan Anderson describes what it was like designing Taylor Swift’s custom Dior wedding dress

‘It’s an emotional thing doing someone’s wedding’, the Creative Director of Dior said, reflecting on the experience
Dior Creative Director Jonathan Anderson has spoken publicly for the first time about designing Taylor Swift’s bespoke wedding dress, describing the collaboration as both personal and emotional.
Anderson discussed the project with WWD during the launch of his 2026 haute couture collection in Paris on July 6, days after Swift married Travis Kelce in a private ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York.
“It was a joy to work with her,” Anderson said. “We became very good friends.”
Swift’s spokesperson confirmed on July 3 that both the singer and Kelce wore Christian Dior Haute Couture for their wedding.
Anderson’s custom design marked Dior’s first haute couture wedding dress created for a celebrity bride since he became the fashion house’s Creative Director of Dior Women’s, Men’s and Haute Couture Collections in June 2025.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Anderson said, “It’s an emotional thing doing someone’s wedding.”
The couple also wore custom Christian Louboutin footwear, while Swift completed her bridal look with Cartier jewellery.
Although official wedding photographs have not yet been released, insiders claims the publication that Swift wore an “incredibly classic and elegant” gown with a “very long train”. Kelce reportedly coordinated with the bride by wearing white for the ceremony.
The report also stated that the interior of Madison Square Garden was transformed with a soft blush and light peach colour palette to complement the couple’s couture outfits.
One insider described the setting as having “an enchanted garden-inspired vibe”, featuring blush and white floral arrangements, lush greenery, large trees and candlelight throughout the venue.
The wedding also featured high-profile guests, including Selena Gomez, Abigail Anderson and Jennifer Lopez, all of whom attended in designer gowns.
