Gaza war pressure: Netanyahu removes Israeli adviser Tzachi Hanegbi from his position

Under growing pressure from the ongoing Gaza war, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has removed his National Security Adviser, Tzachi Hanegbi, from office.

According to Netanyahu’s statement, the adviser has been replaced with immediate effect. Reports suggest Hanegbi had opposed Israel’s recent attacks on Gaza and earlier strikes targeting Hamas leaders in Qatar.

Hanegbi, a senior Likud Party member since the 1990s, admitted in his own statement that he had differences with Netanyahu. He warned that many Israeli hostages were still held by Hamas and said the mission to bring them home was not yet complete.

Netanyahu has recently lost several key members from his inner circle. Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer is also expected to resign soon.

It is worth noting that Netanyahu had also dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Gallant last year in November, reflecting the ongoing internal tensions within his government amid the Gaza conflict.
