Adam Driver spills on secret plan to dodge his movie premieres

Adam Driver is the leading face of the new indie film Paper Tiger, which recently screened at Cannes.
The theatre was packed with the audience; everyone was there except the lead actor himself.
He explains he dodges his movies, telling Variety, “I can’t stand to watch myself.”
Scores of Driver’s movies have been screened at the film festival.
So, he says he had worked out an escape routine.
“I have a whole system where I wait until everything is starting,” the actor continues.
“And I go through these mazes into a room that overlooks all these boats.”
When the movie is near its end, Driver miraculously reappears.
“And then I sneak back in and try not to be noisy so I can be there as the lights come up.”
However, there are some exceptions.
In 2024, Driver’s hotly anticipated movie Megalopolis was screened at Cannes.
For this, he sits through the premiere because of its director, Francis Ford Coppola.
“[His wife] Eleanor had just passed away,” the actor shares.
Paper Tiger does not have a theatrical release yet.
