
SYLHET: Bangladesh national cricket team were bowled out for 278 in their first innings against Pakistan national cricket team in the second Test, with Pakistan reaching 21 without loss at stumps on the opening day.
After winning the toss, Pakistan captain Shan Masood elected to field first at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan’s bowlers made an immediate impact as Mohammad Abbas struck in the opening over and added a second wicket with Bangladesh on 44. Khurram Shahzad claimed the third wicket at 63, helping reduce the hosts to 101 for 3 by lunch.
The pressure continued in the second session, with Bangladesh slipping to 168 for 6 at tea.
Litton Das then led a spirited recovery, scoring 126 to lift Bangladesh to 278. Other contributors included Najmul Hossain Shanto (29), Tanzid Hasan (26), Mushfiq ur Rahim (23), Mominul Haque (22) and Taijul Islam (16).
Khurram Shahzad finished with four wickets, Abbas took three, while Hassan Ali claimed two and Sajid Khan picked up one.
In reply, Pakistan ended the day on 21 without loss, with Azan Awais unbeaten on 13 and Abdullah Fazal on 8.
Bangladesh lead the two-match series 1-0 after winning the opening Test.
Earlier, Pakistan suffered a 104-run defeat against Bangladesh in the first Test, as the visitors struggled while chasing a target of 268 runs.
In the final innings, Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed and the team was bowled out for 163 runs. The first wicket fell at just 3 runs, putting early pressure on the batting side.
Pakistan national cricket team continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Azan Owais scored 15 runs before getting out, while captain Shan Masood managed only 2 runs.
Debutant Abdullah Fazal played a fighting knock of 66 runs, and Salman Ali Agha contributed 26 runs. Saud Shakeel scored 15, Noman Ali 4, and Hasan Ali 1 run.
