Sydney Sweeney has once again found herself at the center of controversy.

Following a new sequence in Euphoria, some insiders claim that it was designed as a pointed jab at Hollywood critics.

In the latest episode, Sweeney’s character Cassie appears in fantasy-inspired homage to the 1958 cult classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. The sequence shows Cassie transforming into a towering blonde giantess who stomps through Hollywood while panicked crowds flee and helicopters circle overhead.

Now, Radar Online reported that insiders alleged the over-the-top imagery symbolizes the actress’ frustration with parts of the industry following the criticism tied to her political views and divisive American Eagle advertising campaign last year.

An insider told the outlet, “Sydney absolutely understood and encouraged the symbolism here. The giant blonde bombshell crushing Hollywood was meant as a provocation. She feels like left-leaning people in the industry have frozen her out because she doesn’t fit their politics or behave the way they expect young actresses to behave.”

They added, “A lot of people in Hollywood still haven’t forgiven her for the American Eagle uproar or for rumors about her Republican background. This was her way of saying she can still dominate the industry whether they like it or not.”

Sources claimed the new Euphoria scene was interpreted behind the scenes as Sweeney reclaiming control of her public image. They noted that Sydney Sweeney knows ” exactly how Hollywood talks about her behind closed doors.”

“There’s this feeling among some executives and creatives that she’s become politically radioactive. Playing a literal giant woman terrorizing Hollywood was not subtle,” the source added.
