Stephen Cloobeck, a billionaire resort owner, was arrested.
He was hit with a felony charge in an attempt to stop a witness from testifying.
Hours after his arrest, Cloobeck posted a whopping $300,000 bond to be released, according to TMZ.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested the CEO of Diamonds Resorts International in West Hollywood.
A known Democratic donor, Cloobeck, recently had a fallout with Eric Swalwell, a former congressman.
They were pals for decades; however, their bond was caught in a vortex when Swalwell was accused of sexual assault.
In response, Cloobeck not only cut ties with him but also reportedly showed him the door of his mansion in California.
Not only this, according to reports, the billionaire donor also demanded over $1 million back.
This is the money which Cloobeck allegedly poured into Swalwell’s campaign for governorship.
Backing him financially came right after the resort owner dropped his own bid.
He was a one-time California governor hopeful. However, seeing his chances tank against Gavin Newsom, the current governor, Cloobeck changed the tack and backed Swalwell in November 2025.
