Met Office issues another heatwave alert for Karachi, Sindh

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning of another heatwave in Sindh starting Thursday, May 7.

According to the alert, daytime temperatures could rise between 47°C and 49°C. Upper and central districts of Sindh are expected to face extremely hot weather, including Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroz, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur.

Hot and dry weather conditions are already continuing in many parts of the country, especially in Sindh and Balochistan. The Met Office said that the temperature in Turbat has already reached 46°C.

Authorities have advised people to take precautions, avoid going out in direct sunlight during peak hours, and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

The ongoing extreme heat has already affected lives, with 14 deaths reported in Karachi over the past two days, including eight deaths due to heatwave on Monday.
