Earlier, Iran’s national football team has been dealt a significant setback ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with key player Ali Gholizadeh ruled out due to a serious knee injury.
According to reports, the winger sustained the injury while representing Lech Poznań in a recent match. Medical examinations later confirmed a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of his left knee.
The club has announced that Gholizadeh will undergo surgery soon, followed by several months of rehabilitation, effectively ending his chances of participating in the World Cup.
This development is a major loss for Iran, as Gholizadeh was considered a key component of the squad.
