Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of PCB, announced that new venues will be added to next year’s PSL.
Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has announced that new venues will be added to next year’s Pakistan Super League, showing plans to expand the tournament.
While talking to the media, he thanked the people of Lahore and praised cricket fans for their discipline and excitement during the final. He said the atmosphere at Gaddafi Stadium was outstanding, with fans showing great passion and energy.
Naqvi said he was impressed by the love for cricket among Lahore’s people, adding that fans supported both teams openly and enjoyed the match, showing their strong connection with the sport.
His comments came after the PSL 11 final, where a full crowd was allowed following special government approval, despite earlier restrictions due to fuel-saving measures.
Earlier in the tournament, matches were held only in Lahore and Karachi, and were initially played without spectators because of a national fuel shortage linked to global energy issues.
Naqvi explained that getting permission for crowds was not easy, as the Prime Minister of Pakistan wanted to reduce fuel use. However, he said the Prime Minister also supported allowing fans and finally approved attendance for the final.
He added that PSL 12 will be bigger and better than the current season, in line with the PCB’s plans to grow the league, which has already expanded from six to eight teams and aims to gain a stronger global presence.
