PSX posts weekly loss as KSE-100 index falls 1.88pc

The index shed 3,267 points over the course of the week.

Karachi: The weekly trading session at the Pakistan Stock Exchange remained under pressure, with the benchmark KSE-100 index posting a decline of 1.88 percent.

The index shed 3,267 points over the course of the week, closing at 170,672 points compared to 173,939 points at the start of the period.

During the week, the market breached three key psychological levels. Out of five trading sessions, the index remained in the red for three days, while gains were recorded in two sessions.

The KSE-100 index touched a high of 175,298 points and a low of 166,380 points during the week.

Market capitalisation decreased by Rs372 billion over the five trading days, settling at Rs18,877 billion.

According to market experts, the bearish trend was driven by delays in US-Iran peace negotiations and concerns over increasing US pressure.
