President Donald Trump, a day after stating Vice President JD Vance would not go to Pakistan for high-stakes talks over Iran, now confirmed his potential successor is on the way to the South Asian country.
“They’re heading over now,” the president tells The Post, referring to the delegation which is formed of Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner. “They’ll be there tonight, [Islamabad] time.”
The White House’s efforts to secure a diplomatic breakthrough come as the ceasefire set by Trump is nearing its end.
Notably, the U.S. president – known for his unpredictability – also floated the idea of meeting with Iranian leaders if both warring parties reach a common ground.
“I have no problem meeting them,” he shares, adding, “If they want to meet, we have some very capable people, but I have no problem meeting them.”
But before a dramatic diplomatic step, Trump drew a line over what he shared multiple times: Iran must not have nuclear weapons.
“Get rid of their nuclear weapons. That’s all very simple,” he adds. “There will be no nuclear weapon.”
The Republican president also notes that Iran is a “wonderful country” and that, if it complies, it could prosper.
