Ruby Rose accuses Katy Perry of sexual assault, speaks out on social media

The ‘Orange Is the New Black’ alum levelled the allegations about her past encounter with Perry on Threads
Actor and model Ruby Rose has publicly alleged that singer Katy Perry sexually assaulted her in the past, responding to a social media post that has since prompted widespread discussion.
The exchange began after Complex Music posted about Perry’s reaction to Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance on Threads. In response, Ruby Rose wrote, “Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks.”
Following reactions from other users, Rose expanded on the allegation, explaining the delay in speaking publicly. She wrote, “I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly. Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes.”
In further replies, she described how she had previously shared the incident in a different context. “After it I threw up on her. I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it. Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead I got attacked by.. everyone.”
Rose also addressed the emotional impact of sharing the allegation, stating, “Before I open up about something incredibly raw and traumatic, I tell myself ‘it’s ok, you don’t need people to believe you, you just need to get it out of your poor body, before it gives you cancer.’ But then I see this post and … tears consume me, in a good way. Thank you.”
The allegation has resurfaced past tensions between Rose and Perry, including criticism of the singer’s music shared publicly in 2017. Katy Perry has not responded to the claims at the time of writing.
