PESHAWAR:
Four women died on Wednesday after the roof of a house collapsed in the Dak Lam Shah in Bajur, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), trapping several people under the debris.
According to a statement issued by Rescue 1122, medical and rescue teams were dispatched immediately after receiving the report, adding that Initial information indicated that five people were trapped beneath the rubble.
“Rescue 1122 personnel carried out operations to free the injured from the debris. The victims were provided with preliminary CPR in a rescue ambulance before being transferred in critical condition to District Hospital Khar. There, doctors confirmed that two women and two girls had died,” the statement read.

It said that the victims were identified as the wives of Abdullah Jan and Rehmatullah, and the daughters of Rasool Khan and Aziz, while the injured included the wife of Rasool Khan.
However, the authority said that the cause of the incident had yet to be determined, and the investigation was ongoing.
Last month, at least 17 people died from roof or wall collapses due to heavy rainfall in K-P. Bannu recorded the highest casualties, with eight deaths, including seven children and one woman, and 42 injuries. Abbottabad reported five deaths, including four children. Kohat saw two fatalities, North Waziristan one, and in Battagram, one woman was killed.
Several incidents of roofs collapsing were recorded in Bannu. In the village of Dad Kachlot, a roof collapsed in the house of Sher Muhammad Khan, killing three children: nine-year-old Asif, six-year-old Umrah, and three-year-old Javeria. At Kotka Ghulam Qadir, the roof of a veranda at a community centre collapsed, killing two people and injuring 39.
In Mama Kheil, a house wall collapsed, killing two children, 11-year-old Abu Sufyan and eight-year-old Wajahatullah. In Shamdi Khel, Miryan Road, the roof of a room in the house of Iqbal collapsed, killing Iqbal’s mother.
