Tiger Woods was released on bail after being arrested in Florida following a car crash that led to driving under the influence (DUI) charges, authorities said.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on Jupiter Island. Woods, 50, was driving a Land Rover when he collided with a truck towing a trailer on a two-lane road.
The truck driver reported seeing Woods approaching at high speed while attempting to turn into a driveway. As the driver tried to move aside, Woods’ vehicle overtook the truck and swerved to avoid it, but clipped the trailer. The SUV then rolled onto its side. Woods managed to exit the vehicle through a window.
No injuries were reported for either Woods or the truck driver.
Law enforcement officers at the scene suspected impairment. Woods agreed to a breath test but refused to undergo a urine test, stating he had taken medication related to prior injuries. He was subsequently arrested and taken to a nearby jail.
Woods now faces charges including DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Earlier in the week, Woods had competed in the finals of the Tomorrow’s Golf League Finals, where his team, Jupiter Links Golf Club, was defeated by Los Angeles Golf Club.
