Iran lays out 5 conditions for ending war with US

Iran’s state-owned broadcaster Press TV reported that Tehran had “responded negatively” to an American proposal aimed at ending the US-Israeli war on the country. The report cited a senior political-security official.

The official said Iran is determined to continue defending itself and will keep attacking the enemy until its demands are accepted. The report also said the United States has been trying to start negotiations through different diplomatic channels, but Iran believes the proposals are unrealistic and ignore America’s failure in the war.

The official explained that Iran will only agree to end the conflict if several conditions are accepted. These include stopping all attacks and assassinations, creating a clear system to make sure the war does not start again, guaranteeing payment for war damages, ending the war on all fronts including groups supporting Iran in the region, and giving international recognition to Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz.

The report also said Iran has informed all mediators that a ceasefire will only happen if all these conditions are accepted, and there will be no negotiations before that. The official again said the war will end when Iran decides, not when Trump wants it to end.

On the other hand, US media reported that Washington had sent a peace plan to Iran after Trump said he was hopeful the war would end soon. Trump also told reporters that the US is currently in talks with Iran and mentioned that Iran had sent something valuable related to the Strait of Hormuz, although he did not give further details.
