United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has claimed that the US has significantly degraded Iran’s defense capabilities and warned that further major strikes could be carried out.
Speaking alongside the Joint Chiefs of Staff during a media briefing on the ongoing conflict, US officials said the war with Iran differs from past conflicts and is aimed at achieving decisive results.
Hegseth stated that fallen American soldiers in the conflict would always be remembered, adding that Iran’s ballistic missile production capacity has likely been severely impacted.
He further claimed that around 7,000 military targets inside Iran have been struck, including the destruction of radar installations and key defence systems. According to him, 11 submarines and 120 naval vessels belonging to the Iranian Navy have also been destroyed.
The US defense chief also alleged that several senior officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have been eliminated during the operation.
