ISLAMABAD: Armed forces are continuing Operation Ghazab-Lil-Haq against Afghan Taliban and the militant group described as Fitna-al-Khawarij, with security sources reporting heavy militant losses during the ongoing operation.
According to security officials, Pakistani forces targeted Afghan Taliban check posts No. 2 and 3 in the Zhob sector along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The swift and decisive response forced militants to abandon their positions and weapons before fleeing the area.
During the operation, Pakistani troops also seized Russian-made 73mm HGL-9 heavy grenade launchers from positions previously held by Afghan Taliban fighters.
Security sources said the strong retaliatory actions by Pakistan’s armed forces are forcing Indian-backed militant proxies, including Afghan Taliban and Fitna-al-Khawarij elements, to retreat from their positions.
Heavy Losses Reported in Ongoing Operation
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar released updated figures of the operation, stating that as of 4:00 PM, significant militant losses have been recorded.
According to the latest operational data: 641 militants killed during the operation, more than 855 militants injured, 243 militant check posts destroyed, 42 posts captured and later demolished by security forces, 219 tanks, armored vehicles and artillery pieces destroyed and airstrikes target militant infrastructure.
Security sources further stated that 65 militant hideouts and logistical support locations inside Afghanistan were effectively targeted in precision airstrikes, dealing a major blow to militant networks operating in the region.
Officials say the operation is continuing, with security forces maintaining pressure on militant infrastructure and positions.
