Sterling K. Brown reveals unique take on ‘safety’ of kids on social media

Sterling K. Brown doesn’t hide his children’s faces when he posts them on social media.

During his appearance on the Monday, Feb. 23 episode of Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, the Paradise actor, 49, asked the host why he keeps his two daughters — Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11, off of social media and away from the spotlight.

Shepard, who shares the kids with Kristen Bell, replied that he does it for their “safety,” adding that he wants them to be able to “be anonymous and make mistakes.”

Brown agreed, but shared a different view on keeping his kids – Amaré, 10, and Andrew, 15 — safe. The This Is Us star shares his sons with wife Ryan Michelle Bathe.

“Your children are obviously White. My children are Black. I feel like the more I put them on social, the safer they are,” he said. “Any proximity that Black boys can have to some sort of celebrity or access or … status [or] leverage. I’m trying to make sure that they make it home.”

“If I am out with Ryan and the boys, we have a policy of no pictures. And the policy is because they deserve to have a regular night out. It’s their time,” he shared. “Because Ry and I have a certain amount of spotlight or whatnot, doesn’t mean that they should receive less of us.”

Sterling K. Brown is currently promoting season 2 of Paradise.
