Chairperson says couples spent over a decade in state care, now financially independent
Five young adults raised under state care at the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau tied the knot at its Lahore office on Saturday, stepping into married life after spending more than a decade without knowledge of their biological families.
A press release issued today from the bureau said the nikah ceremony was held at its premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson Sarah Ahmad said the couples had been residing at the institution for over 10 years and were now above 20 years of age.

“These children have no information about their parents or close relatives,” she said, adding that the bureau had assumed the role of a guardian in their lives.
She highlighted that during their stay, the children not only received formal education but were also trained in various vocational skills. “They are now employed and capable of leading dignified and independent lives,” she said.
Ahmad noted that this was not the first such initiative, as the bureau had previously arranged marriages for two boys and two girls raised under its care.
The ceremony was attended by Director General Nadeem Akhtar, Director Programmes Hasnain Khalid, Director Administration Waqar Azeem, along with bureau staff and children.
Extending her best wishes to the newlyweds, the chairperson said she prayed for their prosperous future and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to making the ceremony possible.
