visibility drops in several areas

Islamabad: According to Pakistan Metrological Department, cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country today, while mountainous regions are likely to experience severe cold conditions.

Thick fog is expected to blanket the plains of Punjab, upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly during the early morning hours, causing reduced visibility. In the Potohar region, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, misty conditions are likely at a few locations.

In Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is forecast to remain cold with partly cloudy skies.

Most districts of Balochistan are expected to witness cold and dry conditions, while the northern districts may face intense cold along with partly cloudy weather. Poor visibility is also likely in Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Dera Murad Jamali, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Sibi and nearby areas.

Visibility may remain limited in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore and Shaheed Benazirabad, while similar conditions are expected in Dadu, Larkana, Tando Jam, Mohenjo Daro and adjoining localities.

Several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan, are also likely to experience reduced visibility during morning hours.

Meanwhile, severe fog has been reported in Badin and nearby coastal areas, where visibility dropped to zero. Traffic on the national highway remained suspended for several hours, while several private schools announced closures as a precautionary measure.
