Cyclone in Arabian Sea: Rain expected in Karachi for two days
KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that Karachi is likely to receive rain for the next two days due to a developing cyclone in the Arabian Sea.
The Met Office issued its fourth alert on the weather system, reporting a low-pressure area over the northeast Arabian Sea near the Saurashtra coast. The system has intensified and is now about 440 kilometers south of Karachi, moving slowly toward the southwest and northwestern Arabian Sea.
Light to moderate rain is expected in Karachi, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, and Tando Muhammad Khan districts. Winds along the Sindh coast may reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, causing rough sea conditions.
Authorities have advised fishermen to avoid deep-sea ventures until October 3, as winds around the system could increase up to 65 kilometers per hour. Strong and rough conditions are also expected in the central and western Arabian Sea during the next two days.
