Police step up search and strike operations in South Waziristan

SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Police have intensified search and strike operations in Lower South Waziristan keeping in view the recent security situation and emerging threats in the region.

As part of these measures, District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Tahir Shah Wazir visited various localities here on Monday and reviewed effectiveness of the ongoing operations.

He inspected security arrangements at multiple units, checkpoints and police installations, expressing satisfaction over the preparedness of the force. He met officers and personnel on duty.

Speaking to police personnel, the DPO said that the prevailing security environment demanded utmost vigilance from every officer. Even minor negligence could lead to severe consequences, he said.

He also inspected surrounding residential areas, streets and all entry and exit points during his visit to police lines in Sholam. He directed relevant officers to keep strict watch on any suspicious movement and ensure that rapid response mechanisms were in place to deal with potential threats.

Mr Wazir also reviewed surveillance system installed at checkpoints and on the premises of DPO office. He examined live and recorded footage of the cameras monitoring internal and external routes.

He instructed the monitoring staff to keep all cameras fully functional, maintain continuous surveillance and promptly report any unusual activity. He directed them to keep the monitoring room active round-the-clock.

The DPO arranged special briefings for officers and personnel deployed at various checkpoints. He ordered thorough checking of all vehicles and individuals, saying that the verification process must be comprehensive and effective. He instructed policemen to remain prepared for swift and coordinated action in case of any emergency.

He said that modern technology, improved policing strategies and community cooperation were essential for establishing lasting peace in the district.

The DPO reaffirmed the commitment of police force to maintaining law and order in the district. “Ensuring sustainable peace and security in the district remains our foremost priority. Police force is fully committed, professionally prepared and dedicated to safeguarding people,” he said.
