4 militants killed as security forces’ camp comes under attack in North Waziristan’s Boya

Four militants were killed after a security forces’ camp in Boya area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district came under attack on Friday, police said.

According to officials, four militants attacked the camp. They said the assailants managed to enter the premises and opened fire. In the ensuing exchange of fire, all four militants were killed while four security personnel sustained injuries.

Police earlier said initial information suggested the attackers either used an explosives-laden vehicle or a suicide jacket to carry out the attack.

The powerful blast was heard as far as Miranshah city, located nearly 25 kilometres away, local sources reported.

Soon after the explosion, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a clearance operation.

A heavy contingent of police and security personnel reached the site, while special teams of the bomb disposal squad were dispatched to examine the scene.

Rescue 1122 and medical teams were also engaged in relief and rescue operations. Authorities said evidence was being collected from the site as investigations were underway

Following the attack, security across the district was placed on high alert, and traffic on a key highway was temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.

The incident comes two months after four terrorists were killed after security forces foiled a suicide attack on a military camp in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali.

State media reported at the time that one terrorist rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the wall of the security forces’ camp after which three more tried to enter it.

Friday’s incident comes as a spate of terrorist attacks continues in Pakistan. Earlier this year, Pakistan ranked second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with the number of deaths in terrorist attacks rising by 45 per cent as compared to the previous year.
